FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
It Doesn’t Take Much to Give Back
November 8, 2016
Cedar City, UT
Diana Nash, a Senior at Southern Utah University in Cedar City, UT, has made over 50 beanies in which she has donated to help those less-fortunate as a project in one of her classes. She spent a full semester somehow finding time to work on these beanies while going to school full-time along with working two jobs! Diana had decided to make these beanies because she wanted to start giving back to her community. She’s always wanted to be more involved in charity work and this was one way she has taken a step towards becoming more charitable. Diana also plans to learn new skills to add to her abilities and plans on donating a more variety of clothing than just beanies.
This project Diana has taken on wasn’t too expensive and is affordable for most college students. It’s simple enough for anyone to learn and allows creativity and room for growth. The tools needed are: looms (variety of sizes), a hook, and a needle which are all a one time buy that is really quite cheap. She got her set of tools which included 4 looms of different sizes for no more than $20. The only way it can start to get a little expensive is the constant buying of yarn in order to continue making the beanies.
Diana Nash grew up in Henderson, NV but moved to Utah to attend college. She’s been in Cedar City for 7 years now and is finishing up her last year and will be getting her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Special Education in May of 2017. She has proven that even if it takes longer than anticipated, it doesn’t mean to just give up but to continue furthering your education in a career you’re passionate about. She has shown that no matter how busy life can be, there’s always time to give back. It may be in the smallest way, but no matter how small or insignificant it may seem, it truly does make such a big difference in the lives of others.
